10 Critical Prayer Points for the Woman Struggling with Self Worth
We’re going to jump into our sample prayers for self worth and confidence.
But before we do, here are 10 important prayer points (w/ supporting Bible verses).
Prayer Point # 1
The Lord calls you his masterpiece.
Ask the Lord to help you see yourself through His eyes.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) – For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Prayer Point # 2
God created you on purpose and for a purpose.
Ask Him to help you trust in His plans for you.
Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT) – I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations
Prayer Point # 3
God loves you so much.
In fact, He gave His son, Jesus, to die for the forgiveness of your sins. And nothing can separate you from God’s love.
Ask Him to help you find your worth and value in His love for you.
Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) – And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Prayer Point # 4
God’s perfect love casts out fear.
Ask the Lord to help you draw nearer to Him, to help you find peace in His presence, and confidence in His love.
1 John 4:18 (NLT) – Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
Prayer Point #5
God desires to help you.
Go boldly into the throne room in prayer and ask the Lord to heal your hurt and help you see yourself the way He does.
Hebrews 4:16 (NLT) – So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Prayer Point #6
You were created in the image of God.
Ask the Lord to expose the lies you’ve been believing about yourself…
The lies that try to convince you that you’re not worthy of love or that you’re not good enough…
Ask God to help you replace those lies with the truth of His word.
Genesis 1:27 (NLT) – So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Prayer Point #7
You are the righteousness of God.
Ask God to help you grab a hold of your new identity in Him.
Pray that He will give you greater understanding of what it means to be His righteousness.
1 Corinthians 6:11 (NLT) – Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Prayer Point #8
When you made Jesus Lord of your life, He made you a new person.
Salvation didn’t just secure you a spot in heaven, it transformed you into a brand new person.
Ask God to give you a greater understanding of how He’s changed you and how to walk boldly in your new identity.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) -This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
Prayer Point #9
God has given you weapons to help you stand firm against the enemy of your soul.
Ask God to help you resist the lies the enemy has fed you and to help you use the spiritual tools He’s given you to win this battle.
Ephesians 6:14-17 (NLT) -Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.e 16In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.f 17Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Prayer Point #10
You are an overcomer and more than a conqueror in Christ.
Pray and ask God to help you see yourself as a victor instead of a victim.
Romans 8:37 (NLT) – No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
Prayer Point #11
You are valuable to God.
This is one of the themes you’ll see throughout these prayers for self worth.

Sis, your Heavenly Father loves you more than you could imagine.
Know that you don’t need canned prayers to talk to Him – just be honest and tell Him what’s in your heart.
These prayers for self worth will get you started.
#1 Prayer for a Healthy and Right Self-Image
A healthy self-image comes from seeing yourself through the eyes of God.
When we talk about self confidence, we’re not talking about being prideful or arrogant.
We’re talking about a confidence that comes from whose you are.
You were made in the image of God.
You are a child of God.
You are a daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
He is perfect and He made you – which means He didn’t make any mistakes when He made you.
As you ditch those negative beliefs about yourself and replace them with what God says about you, your self image will transform.
Here’s our prayer.
Dear God,
Thank you for loving me.
You could have made anyone else, but you chose to make me.
You took your time when you made me and you call me your masterpiece.
Dad, I am struggling with my self-image.
I am struggling to like myself and love myself.
I am tired of having a poor self-image and a low sense of self-worth.
Please help me to see myself through your eyes.
Please help me to appreciate how you’ve made me and teach me to love myself the way you do.
Please help me to believe all the good things you’ve said about me in your Word.
Please put people in my life who will help me develop a healthier self-image based on your Word.
I trust you with this and I thank you for helping me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
#2 Prayer for My Purpose
I find it incredible that God created each of us with a specific purpose.
You have a purpose that He planned for you before the earth was ever created.
That means that your life is not accidental.
You’re here on this earth for a reason.
As you begin discovering the wonderful purpose God has for you, your self-image will be transformed and your sense of worth will rise.
You’ll begin to see your life as having value and you’ll be empowered to pursue the perfect will of God for your life.
Here’s our prayer.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for creating me on purpose and for a purpose.
The Word of God says that you have good plans for me.
And that you have good work that you created for me to do.
Sometimes I feel inadequate and I struggle to believe that my life has any real value.
I give my self-doubt and negative beliefs to you.
Please help me to see myself like you see me, so I can become who you’ve created me to be and do what you’ve called me to do.
Please help me to discover the purposes you have for me.
Send people into my life who will help me fulfill the purposes you have for me.
Thank you again for caring about every detail of my life.
I love you and I appreciate you helping me.
In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
#3 Prayer to overcome negative self-talk
The Bible emphasizes the power of our words.
The Word of God lets us know that life and death is in the power of the tongue.
And it encourages us to guard our words carefully.
If you’re constantly speaking negative things to yourself or about yourself, your words are working against the wonderful things God wants to do in you and through you.
If you’re struggling with negative self talk, this sample prayer is for you.
Dear Loving Heavenly Father,
Please help me to guard my words.
When I’m tempted to speak negatively to myself or about myself, please help me to choose to speak life instead.
The Word of God is full of positive declarations I can make over myself.
Your Word reminds me that I am made in God’s image.
Your Word teaches me that I am part of a chosen people and a royal priesthood.
And it reminds me that you call me your masterpiece and that you created me with a purpose.
Please help me to believe what you say about me more than I believe those negative thoughts.
And please help me to start speaking your Word over myself instead of talking badly about myself.
Thank you for your help.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

#4 Prayer for Body Image Issues
It’s actually crazy how much society encourages women to place so much emphasis on their physical appearance.
That plus unrealistic standards of beauty leave so many women feeling like they’re not pretty enough.
If you’ve found yourself standing in front of the mirror, tugging at your body, and wishing you could change how you look, this prayer s for you.
Dear Dad,
Please forgive me for being so critical of myself.
Please forgive me for criticizing your handiwork and the way you created me.
I ask that you help me to change my standard of beauty to match yours.
A standard of beauty that’s not based on what size I am, or how my hair looks.
But a standard of beauty that recognizes and appreciates that variety and uniqueness with which you created every human being, including myself.
Help me to see myself through your eyes.
Help me also to strive for the beauty that comes from being more like you.
Give me the wisdom I need to take care of and nurture my body.
And give me the grace I need to embrace it and honor it as your temple.
In the name of Jesus, Amen
#5 Prayer to recognize my Identity in Christ
When you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you became a new creation in Christ.
You got an internal and eternal makeover.
We’re going to pray that God will help you to recognize your Identity in Christ.
Dear Dad,
Thank you for the salvation you gave me through Christ Jesus.
Thank you for the power of the Holy Spirit on the inside of me helping me to do your will.
Please help me to discover my identity in Christ.
Your Word says that I’m a new creature in Christ Jesus.
Please show me how to walk in my new identity.
Please put people in my life who will help me discover who I am in you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

#6 Prayers for self worth (against feelings of worthlessness)
If you struggle with feelings of worthlessness, I’m here to remind you that God views you as so incredibly worth it.
He chose you before the foundations of the world.
He knows you, loves you, and despite every mistake you’ve made or will make, He wants to be in an intimate relationship with you.
You are worth more to Him than you could imagine.
Here’s one of our prayers for self worth.
Dear God,
Please help me to remember that my worth and my value is found only in you.
It’s not in my status, my financial situation, or my physical appearance.
My worth doesn’t come from anyone or anything.
My worth is in You and You alone.
When I’m feeling worthless, please help to remember that you love me.
Help me to remember what your Word says about me.
You loved me so much that you sent your only Son to die for my sins, so that you and I could have a relationship.
Thank you for loving me and choosing me.
You made me worthy of love.
Please put people in my life who will help me discover and walk in this truth.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
#7 Prayers for Bold Confidence in Christ
If you’re struggling with a lack of confidence this prayer is for you.
As Christians, we don’t place our confidence in our own abilities (which is good news, because we’re imperfect and we have limitations).
Instead we place our confidence in Christ – In who He is, what He’s done, and who we are in Him.
God has invited us to live extraordinary lives with Him and through Him.
God can do more through us than we could ever do on our own.
We are to place our confidence in Him and Him alone.
It’s counterintuitive to what our culture promotes.
Our culture encourages us to trust in our own strength.
But if we wanna live a life that’ll have an eternal impact for the glory of God, we need to trust in Him.
This prayer will help you shift your focus and your confidence to the one who empowers and emboldens you!
Dear Dad,
Thank you for inviting me to live an extraordinary life with you.
This world encourages me to place my trust in myself.
But I know that as your daughter, I’m called to be bold and confident – not because I’m so great, but because the Greater One lives on the inside of me.
You are the God of the Universe, and even the impossible things are possible with you.
I thank you that I’m not limited to my own abilities.
I get to live in partnership with You, being led by your Spirit, and living confidently in You.
Please help me to take my eyes off myself, my flaws, my mistakes, and every thing that tries to steal my confidence.
Please help me to surrender my deepest desires to you and to trust you to lead me in Your perfect plan for me.
Fill me with your boldness, help me to see myself through your eyes, and to be fully confident because of who I am in You.
I love you Lord.
Thank you for choosing me, loving me, and showing me how to live with Christ-centered confidence and boldness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Low Self Esteem Causes (You won’t believe this)
Hey sis, I’ve got good news and bad news for you.
Here’s the good news…
You were created in God’s image!
Now for the bad news…
The enemy of your soul knows that if he can distort your self-image, He can keep you from becoming who God created you to be, and doing what He created you to do.
An attack on your self-esteem, self-image, and self-worth is really an attack on your purpose.
As children of God we can be confident that God has plans and purposes for our lives that exceed our wildest imagination.
Low self-esteem is one of the tools the enemy uses to get us to take our eyes off of God and put them on ourselves (a form of pridefulness).
Doing that short circuits our ability to be and do all God has called us to.
But I’ve got more good news for you…
By the grace of God you can overcome low self-esteem.
Christ’s power working within you enables you to overcome every attack against you and your God-given purpose.
The best way to win this battle is to pray and ask God to help you see yourself through God’s eyes.
It is also incredibly important that you spend time reading God’s word so that you can discover what He says about you.
As you grow in your understanding of who you are in Christ, low self-esteem and self-worth will diminish in your life.
