If you’re stressing about being single on Valentine’s Day, I’ve got you covered.
Whether you’re on the heels of a breakup, or you’ve been single for what feels like forever, you can still have an awesome Valentine’s Day. Promise.
The first step is to just decide what you want. Simple, but crucial.
There were some Valentine’s Days that I just wanted to hide in my room by myself (sooo dramatic, I know). lol
There were other times I wanted to be out of the house, having fun, without feeling awkward.
So, first things first – what kind of Valentine’s Day do you think you’d enjoy?
If you’re not quite sure, you’re bound to get some inspiration from the list below.

1 Rule you Must Follow if you’re Single on Valentine’s Day
Before we hit the list, let’s be clear sis…
Being single on Valentine’s Day is not some sort of punishment – so pretty please, take it easy on yourself and don’t drive yourself crazy.
Also, this goes without saying, but if you’re feeling sensitive about being single, you may want to steer clear of Social Media that day.
There’s nothing that’ll make you feel even worse like watching everyone else’s “insta” romances. (Especially if you still happen to follow one of your exes).
Prepare in Advance
Like I said before, once you’ve decided whether you want to stay in or go out, you want to make preparations as early as possible.
There’s nothing like trying to order from your fave restaurant, only to discover that the wait time is 3 hours because they’re packed.
Alright, now let’s move on.
Below you’ll find 3 great options with examples for each.
Spend it with your single girlfriends
If you have single girlfriends, then Valentine’s Day is an awesome time to just have some good ol’ girls fun!
Girls night is a hit for 2 reasons: Keeping each other company means that no one is feeling alone. Plus all the fun you’ll have will mean you’re too busy to stress about being single.
Here are some options for your V-Day Girl’s night:
- Host a Game Night or Movie at someone’s house
- Go to a movie together
- Go out to dinner together
Treat Yourself to an Awesome Night In
If you don’t have single girlfriends, or you just wanna stay in, then you can treat yourself to an awesome night!
I’m a big believer of learning how to date yourself (I’ve bought myself flowers, gone to the movies by myself, etc). After all, the way you treat yourself sets a standard for the way you allow others (including a future beau) to treat ya.
So, think about what an awesome night in would look like for you.
Here are some ideas:
- Order from your favorite restaurant or make your favorite food
- Get a yummy dessert (I’m obsessed with “Sorbet + Champagne” cocktails). Try it and thank me later.
- Do your favorite things (watch your favorite movies, take a relaxing bath, etc)
Join Other Singles for a Night Out
If you don’t want to stay in, and you don’t have any girlfriends you can go out with, don’t worry. You can go out and fly solo, or you can find other singles to hang with.
It’s an easy way to have fun w/ people who are in the same boat as you. You can make some new friends, mix and mingle, and use this as an opportunity to enjoy your singleness.
Here are some ideas for how to get the ball rolling:
- Find single’s events on sites like Meetup or Eventbrite
- Depending on where you live, there may be apps that list fun things to do in your city
- Host a party or a kickback at your house (or convince one of your friend’s to host it at theirs). If you want to make it really interesting, everyone can bring someone of the opposite sex who’s also single.
Enjoy Yourself Queen
There you have it – 3 options for making this Valentine’s day one you’ll truly enjoy.
Whichever direction you go, remember that you always have the power to choose happiness. I encourage you to enjoy where you are, and enjoy this season of your life to the fullest.
